wow.
aft i read jia's idea i thought of something.
we could make it interactive like what she suggested, the device allows the user to make reservation,if possible, user could also browse through the menu n take down their orders, so that it saves time.

I was thinking of a directory that works like a station. Got multiple smaller controls connected to it, something about the size of a book so its better handheld. So that more than 1 person can use it at the same time, 3-4 would be just nice, er maybe?
1 of the features would include how to walk from the current position of user.
E.G. you can see your map. Then a moving arrow shows you how to walk.
uhhuh. then shows the nearby shops for easier navigation, just in case the user may happen to know where the other shops are.
and the current capacity of the shop. so user need not walk until the shop to realise it's full house then feel stupid -_____________-"" for taking such a long time to decide only to find out there's no space. Hahahaha. Or they can choose to reserve a space by leaving their contacts and go there 20 min later.

Vivocity.
i saw the directories at vivo~
1.located near the information counter
-huge, map like.
-sorted by different levels
-many many words!
lets say i have to find er..Coffeebean, i have to look through the whole list of stores, see the unit no. n look at the map to find its location.
oH mY~
Guess by then i wouldn't even want to have my Caramel Iceblend...haha
2.located around the mall.(saw one near the taxi stand)
-its structure is like a hollow cylinder.
-words small.
-old people cant see i think
-becos of its structure,eye-catching, i could easily find the directory.

A suggestion
We could also probably sort the restaurants, by how healthy the food is perhaps? That way health conscious diners could find it easier to decide
here's an example of sorting in calories:
http://www.weightlossforall.com/food-calories-list.htm
Ohoh and we could weigh the pros and cons of the shopping directories and try to improve on it:)) hmm for the food directories maybe we could use more illustration? so that it'll be less boring :D. The canvas itself could be an image too, maybe a dining table or smth haha. hmm but i guess those are for later...

Here are some store directories:
1.

2.

Most of the store directories nowadays are filled with words, name of store and its location. The directory includes maps as references too. However i fnd that they're rather boring and difficult to read. It makes finding the place not an easy job.
I'd rather ask a person than to look through the whole chunk of words if I'm ttrying to find a shop in the mall.

i've looked at the cinemas, the way they show the movies and the showtimes at the box office. I noticed that it changes rather quickly before really allowing a person to have a closer look. rather annoying.
Or maybe we could look at the way people buy tickets.
Is the way people purchase tickets the best way...
